Teacher Training & Professional Development -  Funding Ongoing Knowledge

Students learn more from great teachers. Research shows that effective teaching is one of the most significant predictors of a student’s academic success. The link between effective teaching and student success outdistances other factors such as socio-economic status, race, and parent education levels. Teaching all students to high levels requires effective teaching knowledge, skills, tools, and support. To help guide our teachers to greatness, Bainbridge Schools Foundation supports the professional development needs of our teachers.

Each year the Foundation holds a Summer Institute for participating teachers that accomplishes the following goals:

• Facilitate the development of professional relationships within and across schools.
• Create time and space to reflect on and improve individual teaching methods with other educators working in the same subject area or grade level.
• Develop effective teaching strategies.
• Learn about new developments in the field of education through exposure to professional literature and content area specialists.
• Build leadership skills.
