Bainbridge Schools Foundation supports our educators by funding:
Teacher Support Initiative
BSF is monitoring an alarming, nation-wide teacher shortage that is already impacting our community. We are working in partnership with the Bainbridge Island School District to craft a multi-year strategy to ensure we can attract and support the best teachers. This year, BISD will begin implementation of a formal mentoring and teacher-induction program to ensure we continue to attract and nurture the kind of teachers that provide our kids with an extraordinary education. This program will be modeled after the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction’s BEST (Beginning Educator Support Team) program. BSF is providing seed funding to help launch this initiative.
Professional Development and Training
BSF provides funds at every school to ensure our teachers can access professional development opportunities and trainings. This support helps provide educators with continuing education and motivates and supports their growth and the adoption of best teaching practices.
Innovative Classroom Grants
The best ideas in education come from teachers and BSF supports these ideas with classroom grants. Last year we provided over $60,000 to 20 classrooms including funding for the biomedical engineering club, a math support curriculum at all three elementary schools, and science and engineering equipment.
