Class Size Reduction - Funding Teachers in Classrooms

To sustain the tradition of outstanding public schools on Bainbridge Island, one of Bainbridge Schools Foundation programs is to increase the teacher student ratio by hiring additional teachers.  This is accomplished by paying for additional teachers that the district could otherwise not afford.

Support from the Foundation is a critical component of the school district’s ability to lower and maintain class sizes in the core curriculum subjects. The Foundation, and before that the Public Schools Trust, has placed teachers each year in classrooms since 2002.

In 2011-12 school year, the Bainbridge Schools Foundation donated a record $650,000 for staff salaries, keeping over 8 full time teachers in the classroom. We hope we can raise the same amount or more for school year 2012-13!
