Endowments
The Bainbridge Schools Foundation’s Endowment Funds provide a practical way for families, alumni, businesses and other concerned citizens to make a long-term investment in the quality of our public schools and, ultimately, our children’s futures. The Endowment Funds promise to provide a permanent source of supplemental funding that can help stabilize and protect Bainbridge Island’s public schools now and in the future. These long-term endowment funds complement our short-term fundraising efforts.
By investing the principal of our Endowment Fund and using only the interest earned to fund worthy programs, we can build a base of financial support that will help Bainbridge Island students and educators for many years to come. In this way, your donation will be a lasting gift that will benefit our students and community for generations.
Following are the established endowment funds held by the Bainbridge Schools Foundation:
The Education Endowment was started in 2003 by community members who wanted to provide a permanent source of funding for our children’s educational needs. This endowment provides revenue for the Foundation’s annual funding priorities.
The Holt Webster Endowment provides an annual grant to Bainbridge High School to support teen health topics including drug and alcohol abuse, smoking, depression and suicide. This year the high school used endowment funds to reprint mental health brochures that are used by students.
The Liz Orr Scholarship was established in 1998 in memory of a beloved Bainbridge Island teacher. It is awarded annually to a graduating Bainbridge High School student to further his or her education.
The endowment funds continue to flourish through the generous support of our many donors, who strongly believe that only an endowment can safeguard the future of our schools.
Gifts of any size are welcomed to our endowment funds. All donors to Bainbridge Schools Foundation have the opportunity to designate all or part of their donation to the endowment fund.
The Bainbridge Schools Foundation welcomes gifts in the form of on line credit card payments, cash, checks or long-term securities. Checks should be made payable to the Bainbridge Schools Foundation. Gifts of securities are coordinated by the Foundation office. For more information about donating securities, please contact the Foundation office at 206/855-0530.
A donation to an endowment fund is an ideal gift for many grandparents or parents to make on behalf of children in the schools, either for a special event or in honor of the student.
