Million Dollar Pledge

BSF has pledged a million dollars to BISD for 2011-12!!!

Thanks to our community that cares about schools, we are excited to announce that we are pledging to donate over $1,000,000.00 to the Bainbridge Island Schools District this school year 2011-12.

Here’s a breakdown on how your money will be spent:

Teacher Salaries Almost 9 teachers or staff returned to their jobs at all schools$650,000
K-12 STEM (New!) STEM coordinator, training, materials, curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)$150,000
WINGS 0.5 ASD Wings coordinator, training, Gr 7-8 extension of program$57,000
Teacher Training All teachers, all schools$70,000
Classroom Grants Half of grants devoted to STEM enrichment in classrooms$40,000
Remedial Reading K-8 Reading enhancement$3,550
Learning Strategies BHS program for students with learning disabilities$18,500
Social Thinking Seminar for all teachers with Michelle Garcia Winner$18,000
Bridge Fitness Program for disabled students$550

Over 66% of the pledge has already been collected as a result of the Dollar a Day Campaign and pledges from 2010-11. The rest of our pledge will be made during:

  • ClickathonM October 15-31
  • One Call for All (Red Envelope) in fall 2011
  • Dinner Auction Gala on January 21, 2012 at Grace Church.
