BridgING the Gap
Welcome to the Bainbridge Schools Foundation web site. Our organization exists to help bridge the gap between what the district receives to fund education and what it needs to adequately fund programs to achieve educational excellence.
SAVE OUR TEACHERS DONATIONS/PLEDGES as of 6/30/09
Over 600 donors, raising over $260,000! Wahoo! This campaign is now over. Thank you! Thank You! Thank You! Come join us together with the PTO's and march in the July 4th Parade. Meet at 12:30p on Saturday at the Library... we are entry B20, marching with the school bus to celebrate SAVE OUR TEACHERS!
See our KOMO 4 news broadcast!
If you have not yet donated, don't worry! Our 2009-2010 fiscal year started July 1, and we need to raise money for our pledge of $450,000 to fund teacher salaries, training and grants. This money is already part of the BISD budget!
Please call the office at 855-0530 to make a credit card payment or mail in your check to 8489 Madison Ave. Our online payment service is not working for unknown reasons!
BSF was just awarded a $70,000 grant by the Preston Family Foundation to be used to help fund the new Wings Program in the district. Another donor added $14,000 to this grant, so a total of $84,000 will go directly to help fund this new program. We are so excited!
WHAT DO WE MEAN BY BRIDGING THE GAP? Bainbridge is in the lowest 20% of per pupil funding in the state of Washington. Imagine how good our schools could be with more money! Together we can make a difference.
Specifically, we work to achieve the following:
- Provide the community with opportunities to assure the continued excellence of public education on Bainbridge Island.
- Generate and distribute resources to maintain, enrich, and expand programs and staffing to meet global standards of academic excellence.
- Inspire parents, community members, civic organizations and businesses to partner with the District in enhancing education.
- Increase public awareness of the challenges of funding public education.
